End of Day 4

We're getting closer to a finished kitchen. By Thursday evening, we had the hob, oven, dishwasher and fridge-freezer in situ and the sink plumbed in with tap in working order.

The eagle eyed will have spotted the wine glasses on the worktop, which must mean that we are getting back to normal!

Just the splash-backs, door furniture, chimney extractor and lots more electrical work to be done now - the end is in sight!

End of Day 3

We're getting there! At the end of day three, the wall units were in and the work tops were cut to size.

Looking forward to the arrival of sink, tap and induction hob on day four.

End of Day 2

By 'close of play' on Tuesday, the kitchen was beginning to take shape. Base units have been fitted and the wall units have arrived ready for fitting on Wednesday.

It's all looking a bit 'full' in there at the moment!

End of Day 1

Day one of work on our new kitchen saw the old units and appliances ripped out, the start of electrical works and a lot of plumbing going on. By the end of play on day one, this was all we had left...

At least we can now get to see the new boiler! So far so good...

Day two has started with the new base units being fitted - more of that tomorrow. It's all very exciting!

All Go

It has been 'all go' lately. Tomorrow, we will be up to our ears in it as we are having a new kitchen fitted. So we have spent the last few days clearing the old kitchen and generally preparing for the upheaval. We have managed to get out and about for a few walks however, despite the rather gloomy weather we've had lately. A couple of days ago, we headed for Osborne's Pond.

We had heard reports of a Mandarin Duck on the lake, but by the time we got there, it had removed itself somewhere else. The lake was populated by the usual Canada Geese, Coots and Mallards.

A large oak tree had lost its leaves, scattering them on the surface of the water, making an attractive pattern.

Back home, it was back to clearing and preparing for it be ripped apart. Say goodbye to the old kitchen....

Chilly

It was a chilly start again today with a light frosting coating the ground as we set out for our daily constitutional.  Along Slack lane towards Mapperley Village, things were looking rather chilly. I didn't take my camera this morning (what's left of my mind, was on other things when we left home!) so I've attached some photos from earlier, winter walks.

The hedgerows are bare now except for a few Gorse flowers and hawthorn berries which add their colour to an otherwise grey and wintry scene. The taller grasses too, were still covered with a light frost when we set out. Much of which had gone by the time we returned.

Through the village with a few Christmas trimmings starting to appear and on to the reservoir where the scene was less frosty but no less beautiful .

From here, we climbed Shipley Hill in the sunshine...

Then it was through the woods and down towards Shipley Lake before returning home for a cup of hot coffee. No doubt there will be more winter walks over the coming weeks and hopefully, I will have my camera with me then!

Birthday Boy

It's Malcolm's birthday today. Let joy be unbounded and may celebrations be held throughout the land! Failing that, a brisk walk in the park followed by fish and chips for lunch will have to do.
Still looking fabulous after all these years, it must be the good, clean living and a regular, if modest, intake of red wine.
