Same...!

This morning, we had another trip to the 'divine' Tesco for some shopping and (horror of horrors) to get my photo taken in order to renew my passport. Don't worry, I will NOT be posting a copy of that particular picture on this (or any other) site.
Back home and a quick look around the garden revealed the Pyracantha starting to open it's pretty, little , white flowers.

I was struck by how similar - indeed, almost identical - these flowers are to the flowers of the Mountain Ash (Sorbus aucuparia) trees which are opening their blossom right now.

Five, small, white petals surrounding a ring of stamens and a stigma in the middle, followed by reddish-orange berries, could describe either of these plants. Not strictly surprising as they both belong to the same family, the Rosaceae.

On a 'cuter' note, in the Hawthorn tree (another member of the Rosaceae family) at the front of our house, there was a family of young House Sparrows (Passer domesticus) fluttering their wings in anticipation of a beak-full of something tasty from their mother. Beautiful!
